Michelin Guide Restaurants in the Dordogne

Dordogne has many restaurants with Michelin stars. However, the ones I’ve mentioned in this blog do not have any—at least not yet. However, they are all recognized in the prestigious Michelin Guide, a testament to their excellence. Two of these restaurants have earned the coveted Bib Gourmand designation, celebrating high-quality meals at a reasonable price. The others are on the Michelin radar, offering exceptional dining experiences worthy of your attention.

1. La Belle Étoile

La Belle Étoile is one of those places that stays with you. I’ve been lucky enough to dine here, and the experience was nothing short of wonderful. Located along the Dordogne River in La Roque-Gageac, the restaurant pairs its fine French cuisine with breathtaking views. Fresh, seasonal ingredients are the stars of the menu, and each dish feels like a tribute to the region’s natural treasures.

What made my visit even more special was the option to stay in the charming hotel above the restaurant. Waking up to the sound of the river after such a memorable meal felt like the perfect retreat.

2. O’Plaisir des Sens

After my amazing time at La Belle Étoile, I became more curious about other Michelin Guide restaurants nearby. O’Plaisir des Sens in La Roque-Gageac quickly rose to the top of my list. What draws me to this spot is its unique blend of classic Périgord Noir flavors with a creative twist. Although I haven’t had the chance to visit yet, I’m definitely looking forward to it.

Led by Chef Bruno Marien, O’Plaisir des Sens is famous for its fresh, seasonal ingredients. They also offer local specialties, like truffles, which I really enjoy. From what I’ve heard, this place balances tradition and new ideas well. Guests love the friendly atmosphere. The bright dining room, sunny patio, and carefully chosen wine pairings by sommelier Marion Jeoffre are some highlights. I can’t wait to experience it for myself!

3. Le Pétrocore (Périgueux)

Le Pétrocore in Périgueux caught my eye. The food is delicious, and the name is unique. It honors the ancient Petrocores tribe that once lived in the Dordogne region. This restaurant, found in the Michelin Guide, offers a great mix of bistro-style lunches and elegant dinners. It is a flexible place for many occasions.

During my visit, I was impressed by the creative dishes. One was Périgord black pork with a tasty garlic sauce. The atmosphere is both elegant and welcoming, making it ideal for everything from casual lunches to celebratory dinners.
