Breakfast is served at the property, and recent guests regularly mention both the breakfast and the welcome from the hosts. One practical point to know is that some rooms involve stairs, something several previous guests have mentioned in their reviews.

Choosing a B&B in Dordogne: What I Look For
When I compare B&Bs in the Dordogne, I usually start with location rather than the room itself. A beautiful property can be less convenient if I have to drive every evening for dinner or spend time looking for parking in Sarlat.
Around Sarlat, the first choice is whether to stay within walking distance of the historic centre or a few kilometres outside town. In the centre, I can walk to restaurants, the market and the old streets. Outside Sarlat, I’m more likely to find private parking, a garden and a swimming pool.
Before booking, these are the practical details I check:
Location: I check the actual distance to Sarlat rather than relying on a description such as “near Sarlat”.
Parking: If I’m travelling by car, I check whether parking is private, free or on the street.
Air conditioning: I never assume a room has it, particularly in older properties.
Swimming pool: I check whether the pool is shared and whether it is open for my travel dates.
Breakfast: Some properties include breakfast, while others charge separately, so I check the rate conditions before booking.
Stairs: Historic buildings often have rooms on upper floors, which is worth checking if stairs are an issue.
Staying in Sarlat or in the Countryside?
This is one of the first decisions I would make when choosing a B&B around Sarlat. Staying in the historic centre is useful if I want to walk to restaurants, the market and the old town, especially in the evening when I would rather leave the car parked.

There isn’t one better choice. It depends on whether I want to walk into Sarlat every day or have more space and use the car for exploring.
Things to Do During Your Stay
One reason I like staying around Sarlat is how much you can reach by car in a relatively small area. From here, you can combine a morning in Sarlat with a village, château, garden or activity elsewhere in the Dordogne Valley.
Beynac-et-Cazenac, La Roque-Gageac and Domme are all useful places to consider when planning your days. Canoeing on the Dordogne is another option in warmer months, and the prehistoric sites around the Vézère Valley make a good day trip if you want to travel a little further.
I prefer choosing the accommodation first and then planning activities around its location. It saves unnecessary driving, particularly when I’m only staying for a few nights.
